The best coins of the year by the version of the “Coin Constellation” contest have been determined

On 10 June 2010 the official announcement of the results and the awards ceremony of the Fourth International commemorative coins contest “Coin Constellation-2010” took place in St. Petersburg

209 coins from 24 countries participated in the contest. This is a record number during all the years of carrying out the contest (for reference, in the first contest which was held in 2007 participated 47 coins).

Coins participating in the present contest were minted from 1 January till 31 December 2009.
National banks, mints, distributing companies and the organizing committee of the contest possess the right to submit coins to the “Coin Constellation”.

The application forms to participate in the “Coin Constellation-2010” were entered by:
– national banks of Bulgaria, Kyrgyz Republic, Poland, Republic of Belarus, Ukraine, Republic of Kazakhstan, Trans-Dniester Republican Bank, central banks of Armenia, Latvia, Lithuania, Russia, Republic of Azerbaijan;
– mints of Hong Kong, Australia, Spain, Great Britain, Poland, France, Andorra, Canada, Finland and Austria, and also by the St. Petersburg and Moscow mints of Goznak;
– coins distributors – Coin Invest Trust, Group of companies Resource, MDM Muenzhandelsgesellschaft, Raffeisen Bank Aval, NumisCollect.

The winners had been determined by the international contest committee consisting of the experts from Russia, France, UK, the Netherlands, USA, Canada, Germany, Ukraine, Lithuania, Belorussia.

The organizer of the contest is Water Mark Publishing House.

Traditionally the results have been resumed in the following nominations:

– Silver coin of the year
– Unique idea solution
– Successful artistic solution
– Original technology

Also the Special prize of the Organizing Committee and the prize “For the contribution to the development of the commemorative coins market” have been handed over. And by the results of the voting on the website www.coinconference.com the winner of the People’s Choice Award is determined.

The official announcement of the results of “Coin Constellation-2010” and the awards ceremony took place on 10 June in the Holiday Inn hotel during the Second International conference COINS-2010.

Coin of the year
“Evenings on a Farm near Dikanka” (silver, 50 hryvna, presented by National Bank of Ukraine)

Additionally the coins which got the highest number of votes were awarded with the diplomas.

Gold coin of the year:
“History of Money Circulation in Russia” (1000 roubles, presented by Moscow Mint of Goznak)
“International Year of Astronomy” (200 euro, presented by Monnaie de Paris)

Coin of the year:
“History of Money Circulation in Russia” (gold, 25000 roubles, presented by Bank of Russia and Saint Petersburg Mint of Goznak)
“20th Anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall” (silver, 10 euro, presented by Monnaie de Paris)
“Attila” (silver, 100 tenge, presented by National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan)

The winner of the Special Prize of the Organizing Committee became the series of coin “Zodiac Signs” (silver, presented by National Bank of Belarus).

The prize “For the contribution to the development of the commemorative coins market” was given to the person who had become the legend of the money circulation in Russia, the former first deputy chairman of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation Mr. Arnold Voylukov.

By the results of the voting at the website www.coinconference.com in which more than 10000 people took part the People’s Choice Award was given to the coin “Tiffany Art – Baroque” (silver, 10 Palau dollars, presented by the distributing company “Coin Invest Trust” (Lichtenstein).
