Gratitude from France

The Awarding Ceremony of the winners of the Eleventh International Commemorative Coin Contest “Coin Constellation-2017” was held on 22 September 2017 in Moscow.

It was held in the framework of the Eighth International Coin Conference and Exhibition COINS-2017. This year the competition was presented to 268 commemorative coins from 40 participants from 27 countries. Under the terms of the competition, all these coins were issued from 1 January to 31 December 2016.

Coin “French Excellence Van Cleef &Arpels”, which was made at Monnaie de Paris, took the second place in the nomination “Gold coin of the year”.

Also Monnaie de Paris was awarded the prize “For contribution to the development of the commemorative coin market”.

Rudolf Kremp, deputy commercial director of Monnaie de Paris, could not personally attend the Awarding Ceremony. But he sent a video, where he expressed his gratitude to the organizer of the contest – the Water Mark publishing house, the members of the international jury of the contest, the sponsors of the Eighth International Coin Conference and Exhibition COINS-2017. He also briefly described how the unique coin “French Excellence Van Cleef &Arpels ” was created.

The delegates of COINS-2017 will get know about the role of the case in design practice

In the conference will be feature well-known designers of coins, technologists, investors, European marketing specialists and representatives of national banks.

Within the first session of COINS-2017, which will be held on September 22, Svetlana Nekrasova, Chief specialist, Issue and Cash Operations Directorate, Head Cash Circulation Department of the National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, will make a presentation.

The National Bank of the Republic of Belarus is a traditional participant of the COINS. The coins presented at the booth of the Belarusian regulator always attract many visitors of the exhibition, and reports of Ms. Nekrasova are allocated by a deep knowledge of the material and a wide visual range. For example, last year the participants of COINS-2016 could visually trace the history of the 500th anniversary of Belarusian book printing, expressed in modern coins and medals. It should be noted that Svetlana Nekrasova was awarded the prize “For the contribution to the development of commemorative coins market” at the awarding ceremony of the laureates of the “Coin Constellation-2016”.

“Each coin is created in its own way, – Svetlana Nekrasova tells about her forthcoming report at the COINS-2017. – There are no two identical monetary stories, as there are no two identical designs. The project of a commemorative coin goes a long way from exploring the theme to the formation of the idea and its artistic embodiment. This way is full of unexpected twists and surprises. What role in the process of finding the idea of coins having a case, and how it affects to the end result – the appearance of the coin is the theme of our presentation”.
