Representatives of the Bank of Russia, experts of Goznak, heads of central and commercial banks, the largest mints of the world, coin distributing companies took part in the only Conference on commemorative and investment coins in Russia.
At the conference, which gathered together more than 280 delegates from dozens of countries, many important issues were discussed: issues related to the current situation in the market of commemorative coins, coin design, production technologies, marketing and advertising of coins. The presentation by Julia Pospelova, the Leading Economist of Commemorative Coins Division of Cash Circulation Department of the Bank of Russia, was focused on some aspects of development of the modern commemorative and investment coins market in Russia.
Director General of the “Water Mark” Publishing House Valeriy Presnyakov described in detail progressive goals and objectives of the Russian National Association of members of the coin market.
The presentation of Vladimir Korytkovsky, the Deputy Director of the Development Authority of Commission Operations Department of cash and settlement service for individuals of Sberbank of Russia, was dedicated to the Post-Olympic monetary future.
From the presentation of Alexander Rakovsky, the Deputy Director General of TBSS Ltd., the participants of the conference got to know about all the subtle aspects of procedure for customs clearance of investment and commemorative coins of precious metals imported into the Russian Federation and out of it.
Alexander Baklanov, the Chief Artist of the Design Centre of Goznak, described to the listeners the Modern tendencies in manufacture of commemorative coins.
The topic of the use of new materials with special properties for coin and token products was considered in the presentation of Alexey Akinin, the Head of the coin and medallic department of Scientific Research Institute of Goznak.
From the presentation of Simon Lake, the Director of Sales of The Royal Mint, the participants of the conference got to know about the new Integrated Secure Identification System for coins.
Lukasz Karda, Technical and Production Organization Department Director of The Mint of Poland, in his presentation told about innovative technologies in minting and decorating of commemorative coins.
Challenging issues of investment coins were discussed in the special seminar. Dmitry Balkovsky, the Chief Editor of the Portal Goldenfront.ru, made a presentation on topic “Prospects for the investment in precious metals in 2014: Russia and the world”. Roman Otlivanchik, the analyst of Derzhava Gold Ltd., turned attention of the participants of the conference to the aspects of monetary reform “Smart Money” and about the role of investment coins.
Any visitor of the exhibition could freely attend numismatic seminars held during the second day of the conference and put questions about the world of numismatics to professionals, for which scientific study, coining and sales of coins are their lifework.
Igor Shiryakov, Head of Numismatic Department of the State Historical Museum, told in detail about Soviet restrikes of the 1920s. Igor Alekseev, Director General of Troysky Standard Ltd. shared his experience of buy-back of coins from population.
60 exhibitors took part in the exhibition COINS-2014. The central booths were represented by Goznak and Sberbank of Russia. Modern commemorative coins of precious metals and investment coins were displayed at the booths of the Kazakhstan Mint, National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the National Bank of Kyrgyz Republic, Resource Group of Companies, Transstroibank, Trans-Dniester Republican bank, Moneda Nueva (Spain/Russia), Numiscom GmbH & Co KG (Germany), UNET NumisCollect (The Netherlands), etc. Historical coins were at the booth of the East European Antique House (Russia), Hermes Auction Company (Russia), Fritz Rudolf Kuenker GmbH & Co., Germany/Russia, etc.
Over 3.500 visitors attended the exhibition COINS-2014. They obtained a unique opportunity to get acquainted with new technological solutions and design assets which had been used in the production of gold and silver commemorative coins - winners of various nominations of the 8th International Commemorative Coins Contest "Coin Constellation-2014", which were announced on the eve of the opening of the exhibition, 18 September. This year about 260 commemorative coins and 25 coin series from 31 countries, issued from 1 January to 31 December 2013, participated in the competition.
The visitors of the exhibition were able to add their numismatic collections with coins minted by the largest mints of the world. Every guest of COINS-2014 fulfilled a cherished dream of any collector and made a memorable coin-looking token on the historical coining press of Goznak.
Every hour special prize campaigns and creative competitions for adults and children were conducted on the territory of COINS-2014. With these campaigns and competitions the participants obtained new knowledge and wonderful gifts: coins of precious and non-precious metals (provided by the Resource group of companies, National Bank of the Republic of Belarus, the Trans-Dniester Republican bank, Transstroibank such companies as Hermes Auction, Numiscom GmbH & Co KG, the auction house "Russiancoin", etc.), albums with coins (provided by CB "RIAL-CREDIT", Thaler company), sets of coins (by Goznak, organizer of the exhibition, pavilion №102 in the "City of hobby"), medals (by the online store Coins-notes.ru), plastic banknotes (by "Moscow Kollekcioner"),calendars with tokens (by "MasterVision"), numismatic postcards and accessories, Olympic banknotes (by the organizer of the exhibition), valuable numismatic literature (by the trading house "Biblio-Globus", Dmitry Guletsky), subscriptions to the Gold Chervonets Magazine, tickets to excursion to the Museum of money, and many other prizes desirable by every collector.
On the second day of the exhibition the East European Antique House held a numismatic quiz for visitors of COINS-2014. Everyone who answered a question of announcer correctly received a commemorative coin as a gift.
